 Support Your Troops!
Back to Full Blog

My late Cousin, Sp. Justin Rollins, was being deployed to Iraq. He was talking to his father, Skip, as they visited him one last time. Skip asked his son if there were any last-minute things he wanted before shipping out.

He said to him, " 'Dad, just tell the American people to support us and love us, and we will do our jobs."

Please, show the troops your support and love, even if you don't support the war, support the loved ones fighting it. Send care packages. Write letters. Visit families who have their Mother, Father or Spouse overseas.

Don't protest these brave troops funerals.

Let all of our soldiers know in actions and words that your are proud of the job they are doing for you and your family.

Freedom isn't free.

These couragous men and women have put their lives on the line for YOU.

In case of my cousin Justin and many others, they have also willingly given  them.

Most of all, I ask of you to Please Pray for all of our men and women who are fighting overseas and are at home protecting our freedom daily. They need us.

Red, I support our troops all the time. I wear my red shirt on Fridays as that is a request that was started several months ago, perhaps a year now.

Wearing red shows your support to everyone that you support the troops and they are the most important part of the war. I have a nephew in the Navy as is his wife and his brother is a Marine. His goal in life has always been a sharp shooter. He and his brother made sharp shooters during their training. They hunted since they were 6 and 7 with bows. Then guns as they got older.

My Marine nephew spent an 18 month tour on Marine One and during the flight President Bush would ask how things going and he remembered who was married, what the children's names were and such. He really liked the assignment but was shocked by the infighting in DC so he just asked to be reassigned to Bagdad so he can finish this war. He always shoots for the the highest goal. He did a tour in Afganistan and made sniper then. He is happiest when he is doing what he feels is his job.

These men are my sister's only two children and she said she rather lose them to war than to see another thing like the trade centers happening again. She lived in NY,NY for several months and It is hard for all of our family to see the city without the towers. Three years after the fall of the towers. I thought I was okay about it, but when we drove near where the towers should have been I lost it. All my life they had been there and I am grateful for all the pictures I have of the skyline from my cousin's wedding. It is not the same and it never will be. I will always remember my reaction just looking at the skyline. My cousin started labor pains from it, she was trying to find her husband and he walked home. She was so relieved that the contractions stopped after he put her to bed and let her relax. They have recovered but she still and always will remember that day in a way we can not just from televison.

Supporting our troops is absolute necessary as they are always run down in the press.

What my husband and I do is when we see a person in the military we buy their meal, if it is eating out time or we approach them and than them for their service. We should all do the same. I hope people will undersand that all they want is to know the people are behind them even if the main stream press is not.

Take care and good luck on your finals, unless they are over. My daughter has hers next week. Give my best to your family. Beth.

This is a great post and we ALL need to support our troops and show them huge amounts of love. I constantly shake the hands of soldiers I see on the streets and ask if I can buy them lunch or a drink in order to feebly attempt to thank them for the ultimate sacrifice they make to protect us and stand up for this country's beleifs.

I am so sorry about your cousin but please let your uncle know that I thank him from the bottom of my heart and I am not the only American who thinks like that.

My condolences on your loss and my compliments on this excellent post.

Be well and smile.

Godspeed.

Red - great post and we all need a reminder from time to time although we should not; our freedom to do as we please each day should be reminder enough. Thanks, june
